Chabad UK’s 550 dinner guests heard from seven ‘pop-up’ speeches from people aged 11 to 94. The event, held at the Lancaster London Hotel and chaired by Lana Saffrin Betesh, saw Jodeci Joseph tell guests he did not know he was Jewish until he was 10, while Aubrey Nelson, who – despite being well into her tenth decade – said Chabad had given her a “new lease of life”. Gabriel Gendler, president of Cambridge University Jewish Society, spoke about the anti-Israel feeling on UK campuses and Chabad UK’s chief executive, Bentzi Sudak, revealed plans to hire a new CFO.
